If Latte can jump so can I!

But you probably already knew that...

I'm sure you're all wondering about Snap and she's doing very well. The LL rode her yesterday and she gave her attitude but when she gave attitude the LL gave her a tap and found out that Snap is feeling better as she ran around like crazy and tried to buck the LL off.

She has "laminitis" which is where the horse's hoof's insides get swollen and then their bones inside can rotate (but her's haven't). When their bones rotate they can get dead tissue in there and it can make things VERY painful. Its like if the bones in your paw came through your pads and you were walking right on them. It's pretty complicated and the LL is still trying to figure out WHY this is happening to Snap. Usually horses who are overweight or over eat (like get into a bag of grain) but the best the LL can come up with is that her horse shoes are hurting her and the farrier (the man who puts the shoes on) needs to seriously WATCH HIMSELF before the LL kicks his butt (she scares me sometimes!). But for the rest of the week the LL has to be at the barn cold hosing Snap's hooves and soaking them in epsom salts. Snap loves it, she thinks she's at the spa. Thanks for everyone's concern, it means a lot to us.

The LL's been so upset I decided to give her a massage with my paws on her underarms. I've never actually "kneaded dough" before so it made the LL smile. I enjoyed kneading a lot, it felt nice on my paws. I really like digging my claws into her soft skin. That felt great!! I can't believe I hadn't found this tactic for getting attention. I even got alone time in the snuggle room!

Yep, you are very athletic Kaze! You can jump really high. :)

Poor Snap. :( I'm glad the vet figured out what was wrong. My mom says laminitis can be very bad - she's glad Snap's bones haven't rotated.

I never kneaded until recently myself. It's only since my humans came back from Madrid at the beginning of June that I started kneading my mom, because I was so happy she was back! I've kneaded her several times since then, and it seems to make her really happy. :)

So glad to know Snap is improving..if she's got attitude, she's on the mend!

Kaze, you are VERY high and I am impressed with your jumping skills.

I don't knead much either, so it's pretty special for my mom when I do. And she says I don't do it long enough when I DO do it.

Oh, I am very happy that Snap is starting to feel better. Can she take off her shoes? Wearing shoes feels bad.

Kaze, I am glad you learned how to knead. It is a fun thing to do, especially when your nails get sharp!

You are very althletic Kaze. But I could have guessed that.

I hope Snap gets better fast. I know she likes the treatment but still... that's a tough thing to have to do.

Knead your Human's Arm for me, please.

I'm so relieved that Snap is feeling better and that her bones haven't rotated. Let's hope that soon she'll be able to jump as high as you Kaze:)Perhaps she can borrow one of your blogs to let us know how soothing the teatment is! It's time we had a blogging horsey in the blogosphere (Lap Lady's time permitting, of course). xxx

Laminitis sounds awful for Snap, although the spa treatment is nice.

Glad Snap is well enough to be ridden. But mum tells me laminitis is not good.

Fantastic Flying Kaze! You should be a cirrrcus cat. My bean has horrrses too. They live at ourrr countrrry house. When my lady bean was youngerrr--much youngerrr--she had a cat named Catrina who would climb the fence of the rrriding arrrena and wait to be picked up by my lady bean. She would then rrride in frrront of herrr while balancing on a barrre back pad so herrr claws did not hurrrt orrr surrrprrise the horrrse. This cat lived to be 23 yearrrs old and was an outdoorrr cat. Prrretty amazing-huh?
