I can tell Valentine's Day is this week

Look at how generous Chase is being. He was napping up here and let me take a nice nap snuggling with him. He's even been purring for the Lap Lady!

My Lap Lady has a special assignment! Best Friends recently sent out an e-mail looking for someone in our area who could do a home study for a dog adoption. She said she'd be happy to help so now she gets to go talk with the woman at her house! She's super excited to be able to help this woofie and Best Friends.

Thursday Thirteen #47

Thirteen Things about the Lap Lady she wouldn't want me to share with you but since she is turning 26 on Monday and 13x2 is 26 I get to say what I want. I think.

1. (1-2 years) When she was a little human kitten she tried to run away in her baby walker thing. You know where the babies sit in them and their feet kind of touch the ground so they can "walk"? Well she lived in EASTERN Maine (her town bordered Canada) and there were hills and she got away from her mother and started to cruise down a hill towards a tree. Good thing Gramma runs fast.

2. (3-4 years) Being a bit...stubborn...she got annoyed with Gramma and managed to lock herself in the attic for 4 hours. No one is sure about how she did that but the locksmith had to come let her out.

3. (5-6 years) Here the LL found out that she wasn't exactly good with parental separation when she attended kindergarten. Really bad. The teacher had to pull her off of her Mommy and Daddy.

4. (7-8 years) The LL hurt a new friend's feelings when she referred to an old friend as her "best friend". She got into some serious trouble from her new teacher and learned to keep her mouth shut about playing favorites (but I'm her favorite!)

5. (9-10 years) Family life fell apart in Maine and they had to move to New Jersey. This was one of the most painful times in her life as she adjusted to Middle School and caddy-pre-teen girls as the "country-bumpkin". She doesn't like to think about it.

6. (11-12 years) The LL started riding horses again which made her really happy. She found strength in herself and her abilites through the big animals.

7. (13-14 years) Boys came into the picture and while she made some life-long friends; looking back she was completely clueless. Oh, and she would cheat on her daily French quiz, that was BAD.

8. (15-16 years) This is when she met the Tall Man. She did really well in school but alienated the few friends she had when she spent all of her time with the Tall Man. Then he went away to college.

9. (17-18) Another real low point in her emotional stature but she made it through and moved in with the Tall Man while she started school at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. This is when they got Chase.

10. (19-20 years) She started riding very seriously and leased her first horses. She also taught riding lessons all while double majoring in school.

11. (21-22 years) The LL experimented with some legal internships but decided it wasn't as thrilling as she had once thought. Thus she decided not to bother with Law School. She graduated college and got married 1 week later.

12. (23-24 years) The LL and the TM purchased the house we all live in now. She also got Latte around her 24th birthday. She was very very happy with her life and the choices and paths she took.

13. (25-26 years) Well I came into her life and that is most important. But she suffered some losses of loved ones and really decided to not sweat the small stuff, enjoy the blessings she has, and just have fun in life.

I think the LL has grown a lot in her first 26 years but obviously has A LOT more growing to do. I'm proud of her and am honored to call her my Lap Lady.

Frootbat Friday

Last night I was checking out the stove because it was warloum. Latte joined me and we were enjoying the warmth when the LL came in and said really loud (and my ears are big so very loud is VERY LOUD!) "GET DOWN YOU IDIOTS!". Yes, she called us idiots. However her loud yelling did startle us so we got down. I could not let her have the last word so I went back alone. I looked her in the eye as she said my name in that warning tone. I merfed loudly as I jumped down. See how I did that? I had the last word. That means she didn't win. Never let them win, they aren't smart enough to win anyway.

Mad Monday

Stupid Lap Lady let those horrible roofers torture us all week and then spent the weekend with Snap. Can you believe it? She and the Tall Man spent the entire day at the barn on Saturday. Until o-late-o-clock! I mean, how can a horse be that entertaining? Apparently the TM was getting hay for the horses to eat and then he had to go help the barn owner install a Tivo. It wasn't fair that they left us all day so I snubbed them. I wouldn't purr at all or even snuggle. Take that! Now the LL knows what its like to feel unloved for a little bit of time. Of course I couldn't last too long but I think I made my point. It is NOT OK to leave us for an entire day. Bad Lap Lady.

In stinky goodness news the LL has figured out I just don't like to eat in the mornings. I'm much happier eating at night and I won't run off and beg to play. That means my new feeding time is the bean's eating time so that's cool.
