Thursday Thirteen #47
Thirteen Things about the Lap Lady she wouldn't want me to share with you but since she is turning 26 on Monday and 13x2 is 26 I get to say what I want. I think.
1. (1-2 years) When she was a little human kitten she tried to run away in her baby walker thing. You know where the babies sit in them and their feet kind of touch the ground so they can "walk"? Well she lived in EASTERN Maine (her town bordered Canada) and there were hills and she got away from her mother and started to cruise down a hill towards a tree. Good thing Gramma runs fast.
2. (3-4 years) Being a bit...stubborn...she got annoyed with Gramma and managed to lock herself in the attic for 4 hours. No one is sure about how she did that but the locksmith had to come let her out.
3. (5-6 years) Here the LL found out that she wasn't exactly good with parental separation when she attended kindergarten. Really bad. The teacher had to pull her off of her Mommy and Daddy.
4. (7-8 years) The LL hurt a new friend's feelings when she referred to an old friend as her "best friend". She got into some serious trouble from her new teacher and learned to keep her mouth shut about playing favorites (but I'm her favorite!)
5. (9-10 years) Family life fell apart in Maine and they had to move to New Jersey. This was one of the most painful times in her life as she adjusted to Middle School and caddy-pre-teen girls as the "country-bumpkin". She doesn't like to think about it.
6. (11-12 years) The LL started riding horses again which made her really happy. She found strength in herself and her abilites through the big animals.
7. (13-14 years) Boys came into the picture and while she made some life-long friends; looking back she was completely clueless. Oh, and she would cheat on her daily French quiz, that was BAD.
8. (15-16 years) This is when she met the Tall Man. She did really well in school but alienated the few friends she had when she spent all of her time with the Tall Man. Then he went away to college.
9. (17-18) Another real low point in her emotional stature but she made it through and moved in with the Tall Man while she started school at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. This is when they got Chase.
10. (19-20 years) She started riding very seriously and leased her first horses. She also taught riding lessons all while double majoring in school.
11. (21-22 years) The LL experimented with some legal internships but decided it wasn't as thrilling as she had once thought. Thus she decided not to bother with Law School. She graduated college and got married 1 week later.
12. (23-24 years) The LL and the TM purchased the house we all live in now. She also got Latte around her 24th birthday. She was very very happy with her life and the choices and paths she took.
13. (25-26 years) Well I came into her life and that is most important. But she suffered some losses of loved ones and really decided to not sweat the small stuff, enjoy the blessings she has, and just have fun in life.
I think the LL has grown a lot in her first 26 years but obviously has A LOT more growing to do. I'm proud of her and am honored to call her my Lap Lady.

The Lap Lady sounds like a neat girl. My Lady cheated on her American History tests her Junior year in high school. Oops.
Kaze I loved your TT because it made the Woman feel depressed because of how ancient she is...
We loved reading so much about your Lap Lady. Mommy says she remembers those caddy preteen girls all too well....and doesn't like to think of them either.
Your LL is still very young! And it sounds like she has learned a lot while she was growing up. I am glad she gets to ride horses because I can tell that makes her very happy. I hope Snap is doing good.
That is a wonderful Thursday Thirteen about your Lap Lady! I can tell she makes you very proud.
our mommy can relate to a lot of the stuff your mommy has been through. jr high and high school were torchur for her, 'specially since she moved from rochester to turnersville when she was in 10th grade.
Those are very interesting things about your LL :-) Thanks for sharing them with us.
I think our beans are tougher than we sometimes give them credit for!
A really interesting TT, I think your LL is blessed by having such a wonderful Tall Man and 3 such gorgeous cats. 26... it seems like a squillion years since I was 26...:)but being a teenager is hard, I wouldn't want to go through my teenage years again! xxx
Your Lap Lady is still very young and has done a lot in her life so far! My mom started riding at the same age as your Lap Lady, but sadly she's never had the opportunity to get serious about it. How sweet that the Lap Lady and the Tall Man were high school sweethearts!
Wows your LL is close to the same age as our Momma! We shoulds spill some of the beans about our bean one of these days. :)
