FLEAS!

Last night the Lap Lady was giving me a nice petting session when she felt something like a scab on my neck. She picked at it and found it to be a little black bug which she took into the kitchen sank and drowned. It was a flea. Then she picked up Latte and found one on his belly. Then another one on my neck. At this point I'm not sure but I think she may have "wigged out".

She and the Tall Man went out for a while and then they locked Latte in the bathroom. He came out all wet. Then it was my turn.

The Lap Lady thought I wouldn't be well behaved but she forgets how much I love her. I would never hurt her and I trust her. I did NOT like having my paws in the water or especially being made to lie down. I tried to purr to her and aks her nicely to stop but then she lathered me with some stuff. As she was looking me over she found one of the critters on the top of my head trying to hide in my forehead markings. She got him. Then she found another on my chest. She's lucky I'm white if she wants to find those things so well. After a few minutes I was rinsed and let out. I was soooo cold I shivered a lot while the Lap Lady held me and dried me off. She tried to blow on me with that loud machine she uses but I didn't like it at all.

As I went out I noticed Chase on his way in. From what he tells me he was NOT so well behaved.

The Lap Lady was up until 1:30 this morning vacuuming and cleaning and doing laundry. She took all of our beds!!! It was a very traumatic night. I think she's mad at me and I don't know what I did.

(Note from the Lap Lady: Any help or tips out there? I really was not aware that indoor only cats could get fleas. I know they can come in on people but I guess since it had never happened I didn't really believe it. I'm cleaning like crazy and just picked up Advantage from the vet's office and I am going home at lunch to treat them. Thanks everyone!)

What a horrific night! How did you all ever survive?

I hope everyone is all clean and clear now!

YOU CAN WASH THE CATS IN DAWN DISHWASHING LIQUID (HAS TO BE DAWN, NO OTHER) AND THAT HELPS ALOT. ESPECIALLY IF YOUR START AT THEIR NECKS AND WORK OUT. THAT WAY THE FLEAS CANT RUN UP AND DOWN THE BODY & HEAD. AND ADVANTAGE WORKS GREAT ALSO. WE BROUGHT FLEAS FROM AN EMPTY NEIGHBORS HOUSING WE WERE LOOKING THRU. IT WAS INFESTED AND THEY GOT US THEN GOT ON THE ANIMALS. THE DAWN AND ADVANTAGE AND VIGILANT VACUUMING HELPED ALOT.

Blue Dawn. Was there ever a better product?? The Lap Lady says it kills fungus and stuff on the horsey.

Poor Lap Lady hates to vacuum, guess she's gonna LOVE it now :)

We use Revolution. I'm very happy with it and even though Bubbles goes outside he never has fleas. It also protects agains earmites.

We've always used Frontline and so did the shelter Catzee came from. Mom hasn't put any on us since I became an indoor Cat. But after what happened to you she'll keep a close eye on us.

Mom's too busy watching out for scorpions and black widows to worry about fleas! None of us has ever had any, but one day she took Ninna to the vet and this lady sitting beside her started *picking fleas off her greyhound! Mom was freaking out, Ninna said, but all was well.

Good luck!

I think one of thoze pink Dyson vakyoom kleeners will help with the vakyooming.

Advantije werks purrfikt on the other cats, but for sum reezin, not as well on me. I must have speshul kemistrey. That's why they also yoose the flee zapper on me. Fleez are eezy to find on me becuz I'm so wite and neerly hareless, and the Flee Zapper werks good. If they were brave enuf to giv me a bath, they wood use teatree shampoo.

Heer's ware yoo can git the Flee Zapper: http://tinyurl.com/yklfjk

We get fleas real bad here in OK. When it gets real hot they die off, but when it gets cooler (like right now) they get bad again. We use Frontline in the big spray bottle and it can be put on the cats and dogs and furniture and the yard. We put it on everyone but Baby (she's pregnant again-#of pups contest?) and we don't have any carpets or fabric upholstery. Makes everyone real happy not to hear the vacuum too often.

Ooooooo ... I remember THAT. It came just before a horrible ride in the car (I peed down the drivers' side door of the green masheen) while Mom set off flea bombs. I really like Advantage much better ... and that's saying a lot because I hate Advantage.
I'm glad to hear that you're "flea free" ...
