Frootbat Friday

Its time for another Frootbat Friday where I showcase my rather large (OK, HUGE) ears. I've found that while you all know me rather well there are certain nuances about myself that may be less understood. Like the thwapping sound my ears make when I shake my head. Or how I can loose an entire hind paw practically up to the hock when I scratch an ear. Or how they really are like radar dishes and I can hear what's going on downstairs when I'm upstairs as you can see my one ear "tune in" on what's going on. My ears themselves have a "thumbprint" which is light tan in color while the rest is darker and more black. This is part of being a lynx point.

Also remember that because I'm an Oriental Shorthair I'm actually not a meezer. In fact since I'm meezer colored I can't be a show quality OSH even though many of my siblings (even from the same litter) are allowed to show. My fur color does not match that of the CFA allowed patterns for OSH. Sure my relatives were meezers 30 years ago and some of my siblings are pointed but I'm a full blooded Oriental Shorthair. Apparently the meezers at the shows were competing against some of us meezer colored OSHs and they didn't like that so they changed the rules. My mother is actually a dark dark brown color, almost black, while my dad a tabby. But both have huge ears and long bodies and are very "meezy". So there's a little bit more on me!

But you're so pale, Kaze! Your mom was dark and your dad a tabby-you've got some pretty neat genes!

Join CAT IDOL!!! Think of it like American Idol but with cats. Everyday a cat WILL get eliminated based on the fans votes. Since it is American Idol season I say we try it. Since with the new style it will not matter the number of cat pictures I will need. So feel free to join! Just remember to take a picture of your cat with your thumb showing in the picture (this is done to prove that it is really your cat). Send the picture to admin@wozog.com. The winner gets 32 bucks, but most importantly will go on the WOZOG hall of fame with their picture! I have gotten many pictures after this tournament started so there will be more competition. But it will be FUN!!! www.wozog.com

That's a stunning picture of you!

My dad is a Seal Lynx Pt. Colorpoint Shorthair - isn't that Siamese?

Cat genetics are quite fascinating.

I should have said "the subject of cat genetics is quite fascinating."

Sorry! ;-)

Your dad is a tabby! Just like me! He must look really pretty then. I love your ears Kaze! My ears make a thwapping spound when I shake my head too, but I can't possibly stuff my whole paw in.

I didn't know all that stuff about OSHs. I think they won't let you be in a show because they know you'd blow them all away with your beauty and meezing.

Love,
Tazo

Very interesting, Kaze. In the CCA (Canadian Cat Association) you would be considered a colourpoint shorthair, and you would show in your own division, separate from the Meezers and the OSH.

Our ears make a very cool sound when we shake our heads too. Our mom and dad think it's a very cool sound.

We love your big ears. :) They are beautiful, just like the rest of you. We have to admit, cats with "regular" ears often look funny to us, since we are so used to frootbats!

You are a very beautiful kitty and I love your colors.
mommie used to call us aerial ears when we were little because we did not miss any sounds.

Happy day Kaze

well I for one think that Lynx points are particularly elegant and striking looking. That is, all lynx points apart from baby mao. x

Oh, that was all very interesting. I love learning new things about my friends. I think your ears are very beautiful.

You have some very fine ears. We'd like to hear that thwapping sound they make when you shake your head.

That's very interesting about Oriental Shorthairs. My mom has always thought that I have some Oriental Shorthair somewhere in my background because of my personality, my vocalizations, and my elegantly slender tail. My ears are just regular Cat ears however.

Oh I loved hearing more about you darling Kaze. Pftooey to cat shows anyway. You wouldn't like them coz you'd be cooped up in a prison cell for most of the day and not able to run around at 100 m.p.h. :) xxx

Hi Kaze! That's very interesting about your heritage. I didn't realize that you aren't "show quality" -- which is just a lot of hooey if you ask me. You're beautiful. And yes... you should join "cat idol".

Well, 'show quality' or not, you're one cool cat. :)

You're actually NOT a meezer. Oh, this is very confusing for us. No matter what you are, you ARE beautiful. We especially do like your tabby markings on your Orinetal Shorthair body.

All of that is very interesting to learn about you. However this part below is very funny :-D
